Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about how public adjusting works — and how we work.
- What is a public adjuster?
- A public adjuster is a licensed insurance professional who represents you — the policyholder — in your claim. Unlike the adjuster the insurance company sends, who works for the carrier, a public adjuster works only for you: assessing the damage, documenting the loss, and negotiating your settlement.
- How is Royal Adjuster paid?
- We never ask for payment up front. Our fee is an agreed-upon percentage of what we recover for you — so we're only paid when you get paid. In New York, public adjuster fees are capped by law. We'll go over the exact terms with you before you sign anything.
- Is it worth hiring a public adjuster?
- If your loss is significant or your claim is being underpaid, delayed, or denied, a public adjuster often recovers far more than the difference of their fee. A quick call is free — we'll tell you honestly whether we can help.
- When should I call — before or after I file?
- As early as possible. The sooner we're involved, the more we can do to document the loss correctly and set the claim up right from the start. But we can also step in on a claim that's already underway or stalled.
- What kinds of claims do you handle?
- Water damage, weather and storm damage, fire and smoke damage, and theft and vandalism — for both homes and businesses. If you're not sure whether your loss qualifies, just ask.
- Will a public adjuster slow down my claim?
- No. We handle the documentation and negotiation that would otherwise fall on you, and we push to settle in the shortest possible time.
- What areas do you serve?
- Royal Adjuster is licensed in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania.
